Visions for a Community … and my dream

By, Pamela Laurence

In the chaos of it all-(visualize perhaps an ocean)

There develops two extremes. -( two banks, the left and right.)

In between there is a quiet river that flows and knows

The chaos of it all and the two extremes.

The play of sun lit butterflies and dark cold winters

The seed sprouting the harvest

Retreat and communion

Heaven and Earth

It is all of the chaos of it all

It is all of the birth of the breath and the death of the birth

It is worth knowing

The quiet river flowing between the two extremes

In the chaos of it all.

Do you have a sense of community? What does community mean to you? How do you support your community? My community is a group of people who come to together to work and play. To eat and sleep. To make love and learn. It is developed by those who want to live a life of self-expression and exploration with an understanding and honoring of nature and the “natural order” of all life.

A community can be a group of people that come together with the intention to grow and develop a property, building or home and to work together and for each other. A community that will see the value of the old and young, the weak and strong so all can live in harmony.

A community too, overrides individuality with a belief system or perception which all members of the community are involved. Like a healthy body, where all cells live in harmony of the belief system of the mind. Of course, there are politics, dynamics and exchange, but, most importantly, there is no fear, no lack, no need for protection. All of the community supports each other, for all realize that each is an important “cell” in the multicellur organism called community.

The environment affects and effects the health and well being of the community.

Healthy signals of intention (art) need to be woven throughout the community – Reminders to mirror the community thinking. I see a central area where people can commune; have meetings, educate and sing to the old and young.  From there, all else can orbit out and radiate in. There could be a chime or a bell, which will be tuned to a frequency of love and compassion (opening up the heart chakra), to be rung at sunrise, noon, and sunset. This harmonic sound shall resonate throughout the community. The outer edges of the community will reflect the inner center, for as without, so within.

Out and about the community there shall be different sounding bells, representing other frequencies and art and design which shall represent that on another level,no two people have the same frequencies. That each member is an individual supporting the whole.

The environment created is eventually going to crystallize the people in their behavior, their moods, there sense of self, health and sense toward each other in the community. It will affect what one values and how one behaves. The pathways shall be winding and lyrical – with beautiful foliage and spots to sit and read, pause, or escape. The homes and buildings shall be built with natural materials of the area-(no cement or cinderblock which supports mold and dampness). Sound considerations will be given to living without noise or air pollution with innovative transportation and getting around systems (walking, biking and new ways of travel). There shall be land to farm. -to grow seasonal “gifts of the earth” and areas to celebrate each season. Most importantly, the night sky – with all its brilliance shall be seen and experienced.  Electric lights will go out at 8pm and candle light, fireplaces and fire pits will warm the evenings. Electromagnetic fields and pollution will be banned for night sleep.

My dream is to create nurturing environments and to nurture the inner joy and happiness of man. To aid those to recognize their true self. I would do this by creating a school of art and “interior” design, where people felt safe to explore their creativity and inner self. I would invite teachers from around the world and local farmers and tradespeople – those who had the light in their eyes – to speak on how they have come to their peace and plenty.  The school would have many acres of land for one to immerse themselves in private conversation and experience… – Nature – ones best teacher.
